Behaviors that remains difficule

10 Sep. / 2025

Not always easy to act with others in mind.

The very first survey on the 14 behaviors of the Being Human movement reveals results that raise important questions—particularly around five of them.

1) The Environment
Even as we endure heat waves, battle uncontrollable wildfires, and face the devastating consequences of floods and storms, it still seems hard to believe that our individual behaviors can make a difference in how things evolve. Nearly half (48%) of respondents believe they could do better in adopting more environmentally friendly behaviors.

Our consumption habits are so deeply ingrained that changing them feels daunting. But to make progress, we must first believe that our actions can indeed have an impact.

2) Prejudices
In a society that is rapidly diversifying and where values are constantly shifting, it is essential to confront our prejudices if we want to live in harmony. “I combat my prejudices every day” ranks as the fifth behavior where people feel they could do better (39%).

A prejudice arises the moment we put a label on someone. We all carry labels, but some are much harder to bear than others.

3) Helping and Listening
Helping and listening are what we call “heart values.” These behaviors lie at the core of human relationships, which themselves are at the heart of humanity. Helping and listening require something that is increasingly precious today: time—and we are often reluctant to give it to others.

Accordingly, 37% of respondents admit they could be more available to help, 30% say they could do more good deeds whenever the opportunity arises, and 24% believe they could be more attentive and better listeners.

4) Reflecting on the Consequences of One’s Actions
Whether it’s holding back our prejudices, expressing more compliments, or considering the consequences of our actions, it often seems difficult to think not only of ourselves but also of others—to avoid hurting or disappointing them.

In this context, 25% of respondents say they could reflect more often on the impact their actions have on others.
