Our analysis from the data of the Index revealed that generosity carried the greatest weight and influence out of all 14 dimensions tested, playing a central role in how we perceive humanity. The results of the index encourages Canadians to commit to being more generous. Generosity does not solely apply to charitable giving, we have many opportunities to be generous. We can be generous with our acts of service. We can be generous through patience, listening closely to the needs, emotions, and challenges of others. We can be generous with our knowledge, with our words, with our smiles, and with our time.

A healthy democracy serves as a safeguard, protecting those who need it most. It acts as a mirror, reflecting who we are and how well we contribute to the well-being of others.

Engagement and Openness: Dimensions #3 & #5

The impact of the engagement and openness dimensions serves as a reminder that humanity is rooted in our individual actions—our readiness to participate, listen, empathize, and engage with our communities to foster positive change.

Notions of Truth: Dimension #4

The truth and veracity dimension is a fundamental pillar of social trust and the foundation of a healthy democracy. Without it, language loses its meaning. The importance of this dimension reflects ongoing concerns about the accuracy of information being shared. This result aligns seamlessly with the high value we place on the dimension of democracy in our understanding of humanity.

A surprising yet disappointing impact of the environmental: Dimension #12

The relative and limited impact of the environmental dimension demonstrates the difficulty of fully integrating this broad and complex notion into our daily humanity. This outcome may be related to the fact that we feel we have little control over environmental issues, often accompanied by a sense of helplessness.

Equity and Justice: Dimensions #13 & #14

These two dimensions remain crucial to our understanding of humanity, yet they seem to exert less influence on our perceptions. Much like environmental issues, these dimensions often feel distant from everyday experience, leaving people with the impression that they lack the tools or influence to make a tangible difference.
