Generosity, time and again

24 Nov. / 2024

Certainly the fastest way to influence our humanity.

The Être Humain test delivers its first results. This brief overview confirms—or not—14 behaviors deemed positive in our quest for greater humanism.

Generosity (making annual donations to the extent of my means) is, by far, the behavior where respondents admit they could improve the most (53%).

This finding aligns with data from the Indice d’Humanité, which revealed that among the 14 dimensions evaluated, generosity had the greatest impact and influence on our humanity.

This is a striking paradox. We acknowledge generosity’s impact on our humanity, yet we don’t act accordingly, openly admitting that we could do better in this area. Here, the equation “1 + 1 = 2” seems quite obvious.

This hesitation to give more explains why 39% of respondents admit they could do better by supporting a cause, no matter how small. This behavior or commitment ranks third among areas where improvement is considered possible.

Behaviors favorable to the environment (43%), consumption of local culture and products (39%), as well as increased availability to help others (36%) are among the actions participants feel they could most improve.
